Every night of the week there is another fantastic opportunity to explore what Denver has to offer to the wine world. Here are some of our favorite haunts no matter what night you may be craving the juice!
Mondays are the night to skip the flight at Cru Wine Bar. Purchase any bottle of wine from their prominent wine list and get a delicious stone fire pizza for free! Choose from an inventive assortment of toppings, from chanterelle with pesto and white truffle oil to caramelized onion, pear, basil and honey. Or keep it simple with a Margherita and Louis Latour Beaujolais Village.
It can be hard to compete with taco Tuesday deals that run rampant in Denver, but for those of us who enjoy more wine and less marg, our favorite find is the astounding 25% off select bottles at the Village Cork, where you can also indulge in some amazing seasonal plates, large and small, prepared by their new chef, Cody Penton.
Wednesday is definitely the night where wine specials abound, so it’s hard to only mention one. Solera has its weekly wine tasting from 5-7 p.m. for $15 that never disappoints. Depending on your appetite, opt for everything from a light cheese & meat board or tapas selection to a heaping helping of fiery paella or Wyoming raised NY strip. There are countless bars and restaurants that offer ladies nights on Wednesday, such as Delizios with 20% off any wine bottle, but finding another should be as easy as pie.
Okay, it might not be a wine event per se; however, it can’t go without saying that every Thursday night, Jennifer Jasinski, the owner and executive chef at Bistro Vendome, features a different delectable French classic, such as Coq au Vin or Lamb Provençal. And since they have an impressive list of French wines – the pairings you’ll discover are events in and of themselves! But if it’s strictly wine events you’re searching for, check out Prosecco Thursdays at Corridor 44. From 9 p.m. to close, glasses of Prosecco are only $6.
You really can’t beat Friday nights at the Cork House Broker where you can score ½ off any bottle of wine. So sit on the quaint patio, order up a rich flight of cheeses and enjoy a bottle of wine of your choice without tapping out your budget. Not ready to commit to a bottle? Start the evening with your choice of plenty of free wine tastings on Fridays at local shops such as Mondo Vino or SIP Fine Wines & Spirits.
It can sometimes be a challenge to find a good wine deal on a Saturday night, so we nominate yet another pizza joint. Lala’s Wine Bar & Pizzeria serves up pretty spectacular happy hour specials every night of the week. From 3-7 p.m. and again from 10 – midnight, order a $5 glass of wine or get ½ off glasses more than $10 regularly. Just don’t think about leaving before enjoying a tasty Caesar salad with their mouth-watering pizza or pasta selections.
Voted the 15th best wine bar in America by Travel & Leisure, we can’t possibly leave off the remarkable Sunday 1/2-priced bottles at Caveau Wine Bar. Their wine list boasts a really tasteful variety of new and old world treats, and the service is always exceptional. The menu is understated, where anything that toots your horn is bound to please. And if you miss them on Sunday, they also have a superb happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m. with glasses $12 and under for $6 and any glass above $12 is ½-off.
