From the sun-drenched heart of Chile’s Central Valley comes the 2022 Apaltagua Reserva Carmenere, a wine that radiates both warmth and sophistication. This vivid, purple-hued expression captures the essence of the valley’s Mediterranean climate, where long, dry summers and cool nights allow the Carmenere grape to ripen slowly, developing its trademark notes of spice, dark fruit, and supple texture. Crafted under the skilled direction of winemaker Carolina França and consulting winemaker Juan Carlos Faúndez, this Reserva balances elegance and intensity in perfect harmony.

Winemaker's Background:

Founded by the Tutunjian family, Apaltagua Winery has become a benchmark for premium, appellation-driven Chilean wines. Situated in the prestigious Apalta region of the Colchagua Valley, the estate oversees 70-year-old vines cultivated with deep respect for the land and its biodiversity. The winery’s team, led by Carolina França and guided by renowned consultant Juan Carlos Faúndez, is dedicated to producing expressive, terroir-driven wines that celebrate the country’s native Carmenere grape. Sustainability and careful vineyard stewardship remain central to their philosophy, ensuring that each bottle reflects both place and passion.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly below room temperature at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). The 2022 Apaltagua Reserva Carmenere pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled pork tenderloin, or hearty stews. Its subtle smokiness and plush texture also make it a fine companion to aged cheeses, truffle risotto, or dark chocolate desserts. Decant for 20–30 minutes to enhance its aromatic complexity and supple finish.

The 2022 Apaltagua Reserva Carmenere embodies the soulful elegance of Chile’s flagship grape, rich, refined, and unmistakably expressive, a wine that honors both tradition and the vibrant land from which it was born.
