Sensory Description:

The 2024 “Figues” unfolds with a deep, lustrous purple hue and an inviting nose of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and morello cherry, accented by subtle spice and garrigue herbs. On the palate, it is round, concentrated, and silky, revealing flavors of dark berries, licorice, and sweet anise wrapped in fine, polished tannins. A whisper of cedar and tobacco adds complexity, while the finish lingers with balance and freshness, a seamless blend of fruit, texture, and southern charm.

Winemaker's Background:

At Domaine de la Bastide, winemaking is both a craft and a legacy. Nestled in the historic village of Visan, the Boyer family’s estate occupies land once tended by Templar knights, later by Benedictine and Dominican monks. Today, Vincent and Stéphanie Boyer, the husband-and-wife duo behind the domaine, farm their vineyards organically, honoring centuries of viticultural tradition with modern precision and care. Their fortified farmhouse, surrounded by fig trees and old Mourvèdre vines, stands as a living testament to continuity and renewal. Together, they craft wines that celebrate place and purity, each vintage an honest expression of the Rhône’s enduring spirit.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C to capture its vibrant fruit and supple texture. “Figues” pairs beautifully with prime rib, leg of lamb with prunes, or roast chicken with sautéed potatoes. For a rustic twist, enjoy it with ratatouille, cassoulet, or grilled Provençal vegetables. Its lush fruit and smooth tannins also make it a perfect companion for aged cheeses or a simple evening by the fire.

Rich yet refined, the 2024 Domaine de la Bastide Côtes du Rhône “Figues” is a wine of quiet depth and southern warmth, a reminder that true elegance is born from authenticity and the hands that tend the land.
