Sensory Description:

Vibrant ruby red in the glass, this wine opens with refined aromas of ripe cherry, red berries, rose petals, blood orange, pepper, and subtle herbal notes. The palate begins smoothly and softly before building into a structured, energetic expression of Alto Piemonte fruit. Fresh acidity, supple tannins, and savory mineral tension create a graceful balance, while notes of black tea, spice, and red fruit linger through a long, elegant finish.

Winemaker's Background:

Proprietà Sperino is a historic 12-hectare hillside estate in Lessona, near Biella in northern Piemonte. Paolo De Marchi, known for his work at Isole e Olena in Chianti Classico, inherited the estate through his family and long dreamed of restoring its reputation. Today, his son Luca runs the property and makes the wines with Paolo’s guidance. Their work has helped bring renewed attention to Lessona and Alto Piemonte, where sandy, mineral-rich soils and a cool alpine climate produce Nebbiolo-based wines of remarkable elegance, perfume, and longevity.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 60–64°F in a Burgundy or medium-bodied red wine glass. Pair with risotto, roasted meats, game, braised poultry, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses, spicy cheeses, or roasted ribeye. Its freshness and refined tannins make it especially versatile at the table, while its structure allows it to age gracefully for years.
