With origins in Germany’s Rhine Valley, Riesling is beloved for its piercing acidity, aromatic complexity, and ability to age for decades, sometimes developing its famous “petrol” aroma. Cool-climate regions like Mosel, Alsace, and Australia’s Clare Valley bring out flavors of lime, apricot, jasmine, and slate-like minerality. Riesling’s incredible range and precision make it a favorite among sommeliers, especially with spicy or aromatic foods.
