Deep ruby in color with an almost impenetrable core, the wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberry, crème de cassis, and black olive, layered with vanilla, spice, and subtle herbal tones. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and smooth, offering juicy dark fruit, espresso, and warm spice framed by bright acidity. Soft yet structured tannins support a rich, smoky finish that lingers with savory depth and balance.

Winemaker's Background:

Tenute di Emera is led by Claudio Quarta, who transitioned from a distinguished scientific career as a biologist, geneticist, and microbiologist to pursue winemaking full-time. Drawn to the expressive potential of southern Italian varieties and traditional flavors, he began this second chapter in 2005 with a focus on character, warmth, and authenticity. He is joined by his daughter, Alessandra Quarta, who works alongside him in both the winery and business, contributing a shared vision rooted in thoughtful craftsmanship and respect for the land.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16 to 18°C in a generous red wine glass to allow its aromatics and texture to fully unfold. This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or braised meats, slow-roasted lamb, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses, where its richness and bright acidity complement both savory and smoky elements.

Bold yet composed, 2019 Tenute di Emera SUDdelSUD Salento Rosso IGT captures the spirit of southern Italian winemaking through depth, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of place.
