Winemaker Background:

Founded in 2000 by María Barrena, Dani Sánchez, and Fernando Barrena, Azul y Garanza has become one of Navarra's leading organic wineries. Situated beside the dramatic Bardenas Reales Natural Park, the estate focuses on biodiversity, regenerative farming, and minimal-intervention winemaking. Their vineyards thrive in an arid climate with dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, naturally producing concentrated fruit with freshness and balance. Fermentation in traditional concrete tanks and the use of native yeasts reflect the winery's commitment to expressing the authenticity of each vineyard with minimal manipulation.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly cool at 14-16°C in a medium-sized universal or Bordeaux-style red wine glass to enhance its fresh fruit aromas and vibrant character. No decanting is necessary, though opening the bottle 15 minutes before serving allows the wine to express itself fully. An excellent partner for wood-fired pizza, gourmet burgers, grilled sausages, roast chicken, pork tenderloin, lamb kebabs, tapas, charcuterie, Manchego cheese, mushroom dishes, tomato-based pasta, roasted Mediterranean vegetables, lentil stew, and barbecue fare. For relaxed entertaining, enjoy alongside olives, Marcona almonds, crisps, cured meats, and rustic bread, where its juicy freshness and generous one-litre format make it ideal for sharing.
