2023 Bedrock Wine Co. Old Vine Zinfandel brings together historic vineyards from across California in a vibrant, deeply flavored expression of old-vine Zinfandel. Built around fruit from vines averaging more than 80 years old, the wine layers raspberry, cherry and darker wild berries with flowers, pepper, licorice, briar and savory spice. The richness of the 2023 vintage is balanced by natural acidity and a lifted aromatic character, while predominantly neutral oak preserves the purity of the fruit. Silky and inviting but firmly rooted in the structure and spice of old-vine California vineyards, this is both immediately appealing and impressively composed.

Deep and vibrant in color, with lifted aromas of raspberry, cherry, wild berries and black raspberry joined by fresh flowers, pepper, licorice, earth, briar and savory spice. The palate is generous and silky, balancing concentrated fruit with vibrant natural acidity and fine tannic structure. Subtle oak spice adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit, while mineral and earthy notes bring additional definition. Richness and freshness remain in balance through a long, nuanced, and gently spicy finish.

Winemaker's Background:

Morgan Twain-Peterson MW founded Bedrock Wine Co. in 2007 and was later joined by longtime friend and partner Chris Cottrell. Based in Sonoma, the winery is dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating California's historic vineyards, particularly old field-blended sites planted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Morgan serves as owner and winemaker, combining thoughtful farming with restrained cellar work to produce wines that retain the fruit, acidity, and distinctive character of these mature vineyards.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 16-18°C. The wine's combination of ripe berry fruit, lively acidity, peppery spice and savory structure makes it an excellent match for grilled pork, barbecue, burgers, roast lamb, sausages and tomato-based braises. It also works well with mushroom dishes, aged cheeses and other savory preparations that complement the wine's earthy, spice-driven character.
