Fresh apple, pear, grapefruit, spring flowers, and oak open with an energetic, fruit-led profile. Courvoisier Le Cognac de Napoleon V.S. Cognac brings together eaux-de-vie from Bons Bois, Fins Bois, and Petite Champagne, using different approaches to lees during distillation to build freshness, aromatic lift, and length. Its historic Napoleonic identity and carefully blended style reflect a house whose VS expression has formed part of the Courvoisier collection since the 1930s.

Sensory Description:
Apple, pear, and grapefruit lead the aromatics, followed by spring flowers and fresh oak. Notes of apricot, almond, subtle coffee, citrus, and gentle wood add further dimension, finishing dry and balanced with fresh oak and measured warmth.

Distiller's Background:
Maison Courvoisier traces its Cognac house in Jarnac to Félix Courvoisier, who established the Maison in 1828. Its association with Napoleon became an enduring part of the house identity after Napoleon III granted Courvoisier the title of official supplier to the Imperial Court in 1869. The VS joined the core collection in the 1930s and continues the house preference for a fruit-forward, floral style. Since 2022, seventh Master Blender Thibaut Hontanx has led the blending work, while Campari Group became the owner of Courvoisier in 2024. The historic “Le Cognac de Napoleon” wording reflects this long-standing Napoleonic connection rather than a separate Cognac age classification.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve at approximately 18 to 20 degrees Celsius in a tulip-shaped Cognac glass or similar stemmed spirits glass to emphasize its fruit, floral character, and fresh oak. Enjoy neat, over a large cube, or in classic Cognac cocktails and long drinks. Its fruit-forward profile works particularly well with Comté, roasted nuts, charcuterie, caramelized dishes, or desserts incorporating apple, pear, or almond.

Brandy
Brandy and Cognac, kindred spirits born of fruit and fire, represent the height of refined indulgence and artisanal heritage.
From rustic cellars in Gascony to gleaming copper stills in the heart of Cognac, these storied beverages evoke centuries of craftsmanship, transforming simple fermented fruit—most often grapes—into rich, amber elixirs treasured the world over.
While all Cognac is brandy, not all brandy is Cognac; yet together, they offer a spectrum of sensory elegance, from the approachable warmth of a domestic brandy to the intricate finesse of a Grand Champagne Cognac.
