From one of Neive's prized vineyard sites, 2021 Fontanabianca Barbaresco Serraboella brings Nebbiolo's perfume and structure into an elegant, finely polished frame. The Serraboella vineyard's clay-limestone soils and elevated position give the wine a compelling balance of aromatic lift, mineral tension and firm structure. Red and black cherry meet violets, dried rose, savory herbs, spice and tobacco, while bright acidity and velvety tannins carry the wine through a persistent, earthy finish. It is a poised Barbaresco with enough immediate fragrance to enjoy now and the structure to reward further cellaring.

Winemaker's Background:

Fontanabianca is a family-run Neive estate founded by Franco Pola in 1969 and now carried forward by the Pola family. Aldo and third-generation Matteo Pola oversee winemaking, with Matteo increasingly guiding the estate's work in both vineyard and cellar. The family's philosophy centers on preserving the perfume, elegance and character of Neive, with prized holdings including the Serraboella and Bordini crus and a restrained approach to oak designed to keep Nebbiolo and its terroir at the forefront.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 18°C (64°F) in generous red wine glasses. Its combination of bright acidity, savory complexity and structured tannins makes it an excellent partner for roasted meats, game and aged cheeses. Truffle risotto, porcini mushroom pasta and slow-braised lamb are particularly well suited to Serraboella's earthy, floral and red-fruited character.
