Producer’s Background:

Founded by Jerry Lohr in 1974, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines remains a family-owned California winery with vineyards across Monterey County, Paso Robles, and Napa Valley. Wildflower celebrates Valdiguié, a French variety historically mistaken for Gamay and once sold in California as Napa Gamay. Although genetically distinct, its bright fruit and refreshing character recall the lighter red wines of Beaujolais. The Wildflower name reflects the colorful flowers that grew among J. Lohr's original Valdiguié plantings. Today, red winemaker Brenden Wood continues the winery's tradition of producing this distinctive, food-friendly variety.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly chilled at approximately 50–55°F (10–13°C) in a standard red wine glass. Wildflower is especially appealing alongside barbecued chicken, slow-cooked ribs, grilled vegetables, burgers, or charcuterie. For a refreshing alternative, follow winemaker Brenden Wood's suggestion and serve it chilled with a splash of soda water and a slice of orange. Enjoy young to appreciate its lively fruit and freshness.
