Koyle Gran Reserva Carmenère 2022 is a beautifully structured expression of Alto Colchagua, showcasing the elegance and purity that have become hallmarks of Viña Koyle's biodynamic vineyards. Sourced from the rocky slopes of Los Lingues at the foot of the Andes, this organically farmed blend combines Carmenère with small portions of Tempranillo and Petit Verdot to create a wine of depth, freshness, and remarkable mineral character. Balancing ripe fruit with vibrant acidity and refined oak influence, it reflects both the unique volcanic terroir and the Undurraga family's commitment to sustainable viticulture.

Sensory Description:

Deep purple in colour, the wine opens with expressive aromas of ripe blackberry, dried raspberry, red currant, white pepper, native Chilean herbs, and subtle spice. The palate is layered and refined, combining dark berry fruit with savoury herbal nuances, graphite-like minerality, and delicate oak complexity. Velvety tannins from the Tempranillo component provide structure while the volcanic soils contribute a distinctive mineral freshness that carries through to a long, elegant finish.

Winemaker's Background:

Viña Koyle represents more than six generations of the Undurraga family's winemaking heritage, dating back to 1885. Established in 2006 on the rocky slopes of Los Lingues in Alto Colchagua, the estate was built around a philosophy of expressing terroir through biodynamic farming and minimal intervention. Working with vineyards rooted in volcanic and colluvial soils at the foot of the Andes, Koyle produces wines that combine purity, elegance, and a profound sense of place while remaining committed to certified organic and biodynamic viticulture.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve between 15–17°C. An excellent companion to roast duck, grilled chicken, ratatouille, mushroom dishes, herb-crusted pork, or grilled lamb, where its vibrant fruit, silky tannins, and mineral freshness shine.
