Sensory Description:
Niepoort Tawny Port reveals a glowing brick-red hue with amber reflections, offering aromas of toasted nuts, caramelized fruit, and dried fig. The palate is supple and balanced, showing layers of raisin, toffee, and almond alongside youthful red fruit notes that add vibrancy. Its sweetness is lifted by fresh acidity, creating an elegant interplay between richness and refinement. The finish lingers gracefully with a touch of spice and subtle warmth, a signature of Niepoort’s understated style.

Winemaker's Background:
Founded in 1842, Niepoort has remained an independent family business for over 180 years, now led by the fifth-generation winemaker Dirk van der Niepoort. The family’s lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia are where the art of aging Port still follows centuries-old traditions, small oak casks, minimal intervention, and patience above all else. Dirk continues to champion balance and transparency, crafting wines that bridge heritage with innovation while preserving the delicate character that has defined Niepoort’s reputation as one of the Douro’s most revered producers.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve slightly chilled at 16–18°C. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with desserts like chocolate mousse, nut tarts, or caramel flan. It also shines with creamy blue cheeses or foie gras. Tawny Port keeps beautifully for years after bottling and requires no decanting, an ideal companion for both quiet evenings and celebratory occasions.
Silky, balanced, and timeless, Niepoort Tawny Port is a masterclass in subtlety, a wine that proves complexity doesn’t need to shout to be heard.

Port & Sherry
Port and Sherry, two fortified wines from the Iberian Peninsula, stand as enduring symbols of richness, complexity, and cultural tradition.
Though both are crafted through the fortification of wine with grape spirit, their divergent origins, styles, and aging methods yield profoundly different drinking experiences.
Port, hailing from Portugal’s Douro Valley, is opulent and fruit-driven, often enjoyed as a luscious after-dinner pour.
Sherry, produced in Spain’s Jerez region, offers a remarkable spectrum—from bone-dry and savory to decadently sweet—embodying both rustic charm and refined elegance.
Together, they represent the fortified category at its most expressive and storied.
