Maple sweetness, savoury bacon and a touch of smoke turn Vermont Farmstead Cheese Co. Maple Bacon Cheddar into a cheeseboard conversation starter. Made in Vermont with raw whole milk, its double-milled curds are blended with pure Vermont maple cream, naturally smoked maple syrup and real bacon. The result brings sweet-and-salty richness to a simple slice and makes an especially satisfying addition to burgers and breakfast sandwiches.

Sensory Description:

Rich cheddar provides a savoury foundation for rounded maple sweetness and salty pieces of bacon. The smoked maple syrup adds another layer, drawing the sweet and savoury flavours together without losing the cheese’s dairy character. Bacon pieces provide contrast throughout, making each bite a combination of cheddar richness, maple and gentle smoke.

Awards & Accolades:

  • 2026: First Place, American Cheese Society Judging & Competition.
  • 2025: Bronze Medal, Flavored Cheddar, Big E Gold Medal Cheese Competition.

Producer's Background:

Vermont Farmstead Cheese Co. began in 2009 when South Woodstock residents joined together to preserve a local dairy farm. That community effort grew into a cheesemaking business combining traditional styles with imaginative flavour combinations. Head Cheesemaker Rick Woods has been involved since the beginning, while president and fifth-generation dairyman Kent Underwood brings extensive experience in dairy farming and creamery operations.

Serving Suggestions:

Allow the cheese to lose its refrigerator chill before serving with sourdough bread and fresh or dried figs. Pair with a dark beer for complementary roasted flavours, a hoppy ale for contrast or ginger beer for an alcohol-free accompaniment. Melt over a burger, layer into an egg sandwich or add to a grilled cheese with sliced apple. Keep refrigerated and follow the package’s storage and best-before guidance.
