Bright stone fruit, citrus, and orchard fruit meet a cool mineral edge in Bow & Arrow Time Machine Blanc 2023, a fresh, energetic Willamette Valley white built around Chenin Blanc with smaller portions of Chardonnay and Melon. The blend draws on Scott Frank’s enduring fascination with the Loire Valley, translating those varieties through Oregon fruit with an emphasis on acidity, texture, and uncomplicated drinkability.

Product Details:

  • Owner/Winemaker: Scott Frank
  • Grapes: Predominantly Chenin Blanc with Chardonnay and Melon
  • Alcohol: 12% ABV
  • Farming: Fruit sourced from Willamette Valley growers, with Bow & Arrow working with organically and biodynamically minded vineyard partners
  • Winemaking: Low-intervention approach

Sensory Description:

Fresh pear, crisp apple, and stone fruit open into lemon zest and a subtle floral lift. Chenin Blanc gives the wine its energetic acidity and orchard-fruit core, while Chardonnay lends breadth through the mid-palate and Melon contributes a cool, mineral-inflected freshness. The palate remains taut and refreshing, balancing gentle texture with citrus brightness and a clean, stony finish.

Winemaker's Background:

Scott Frank founded Bow & Arrow in 2010 after moving from New York to Oregon, working as a wine buyer in Portland, and joining John Paul at Cameron Winery as an assistant winemaker in 2007. Together with Dana Frank, he developed Bow & Arrow around a different interpretation of the Willamette Valley, looking toward the everyday wines and grape varieties of France’s Loire Valley rather than treating Burgundy as Oregon’s only reference point. From a subterranean winery in Northeast Portland, Bow & Arrow works with a small group of Willamette Valley growers and varieties including Chenin Blanc, Melon, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Frank places drinkability and low-intervention winemaking at the center of the project, and Time Machine Blanc captures that philosophy in an accessible, refreshing white blend.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at approximately 8 to 11 degrees Celsius in a white wine glass. Its combination of bright acidity, orchard fruit, citrus, and mineral freshness makes it particularly well suited to oysters, mussels, grilled fish, roast chicken, fresh goat cheese, vegetable dishes, or simply prepared shellfish. It also works naturally as an aperitif.
