Ripe plum, strawberry and dark berry fruit meet rock rose, spice and subtle cedar in 2024 Casa Ferreirinha 'Papa Figos' Tinto, an elegant and approachable expression of the Douro. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca are fermented in stainless steel, preserving vivid fruit and freshness, while a smaller portion of the blend matures in seasoned French oak to add quiet complexity. Fine tannins and well-integrated acidity keep the wine lively and balanced, giving Papa Figos the generosity of the Douro without excessive weight.

Winemaker's Background:

Casa Ferreirinha is Sogrape's historic house for still wines from the Douro, carrying forward a legacy closely associated with Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known throughout the region as Ferreirinha. Today the winemaking team is led by Luís Sottomayor, who joined Sogrape in 1989 and has directed Casa Ferreirinha's enology since 2007. The house combines traditional Douro varieties with precise modern winemaking, producing wines ranging from accessible regional expressions such as Papa Figos to the iconic Barca-Velha.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16-18°C. Papa Figos is particularly versatile with poultry, game, roasted and grilled meats, smoked pork and firm cheeses. Its combination of ripe fruit, fresh acidity and polished tannins also makes it well suited to hearty vegetable dishes and savory rice preparations.
