Wild strawberry, dark cherry, blood orange, and savory spice rise from a deeply colored rosé with notable freshness and substance. 2025 Château de Trinquevedel Tavel Cuvée Traditionnelle brings together Grenache, Cinsault, Clairette, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Bourboulenc from the Demoulin family’s stony vineyards, using extended skin contact and stainless-steel élevage to build the fuller texture that defines traditional Tavel. It reflects four generations of family stewardship and a commitment to rosé as a serious, food-oriented wine rather than a secondary style.

Sensory Description:
Wild strawberry and dark cherry lead the aromatic profile, joined by raspberry, blood orange, floral notes, and warm Southern Rhône spice. The palate is broad and textural for rosé, with ripe red fruit carried by bright acidity and a savory mineral undertone. Syrah contributes peppery depth while Clairette and Cinsault bring aromatic lift and freshness, giving the wine both weight and movement. A stony, lightly herbal quality emerges through the finish, where dark cherry, citrus, and spice remain persistent and finely balanced.
Awards & Accolades:
- Score: Vinous 92 Points, 2025
Winemaker's Background:
Château de Trinquevedel has been in the Demoulin family since 1936, when Eugène Demoulin acquired the historic estate and began restoring its vineyards in the same year that Tavel received appellation status. His great-grandson Guillaume Demoulin now represents the fourth generation and oversees both the estate and its winemaking, working alongside his wife Céline across approximately 32 hectares of vineyards. The soils combine sand, clay, limestone, marl, and rounded quartz stones, providing the foundation for the structured rosé style for which Tavel is known. Guillaume’s approach emphasizes careful vineyard work, restrained cellar intervention, and preservation of freshness, allowing the traditional six-grape blend to express both the depth and elegance of the appellation.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve at 10 to 12°C in a generous white wine or Burgundy-style glass, allowing a little air for its fruit, spice, and mineral detail to develop. Pair with salmon gravlax, grilled tuna, roast chicken, veal with olives, lamb, charcuterie, grilled fish, Provençal vegetables, Asian dishes, or lightly spicy and sweet-and-sour preparations. Its fuller body and firm structure also make it unusually well suited to year-round dining and several years of bottle development.
