Chica~Chida was launched in March 2024 by Piermont Brands in collaboration with media personality Caleb Pressley. Piermont Brands was founded by Sam Hirsch and Charles Sachs, while spirits industry veteran Brian Axelrod is identified as a founding partner of Chica~Chida and introduced Pressley to an early sample of the spirit. The concept developed from an interest in flavored Mexican agave spirits and ultimately paired Espadín agave with peanut butter flavor to create something intentionally outside the conventions of traditional tequila. Although the product is sometimes informally marketed or listed by retailers as peanut butter tequila, Chica~Chida is properly identified as an agave spirit rather than tequila.
