Sensory Description:

On the nose, this sake offers an exotic medley of fig, cherry, black grape, raisin, pomegranate, wild strawberry, plum leaf, honey, roasted rice, and even hints of nectarine and spice. The palate is a discovery of contrasts: semi-sweet yet with a dry, refreshing finish, silky yet structured, round and velvety with a slippery, smooth texture. Layers of watermelon, umeshu, cherry, pear juice, vanilla, berries-and-cream, and sarsaparilla unfold on a vibrant umami backbone. Its radiant color and lively flavors evoke the charm of a rosé wine while retaining a uniquely sake-driven identity.

Distiller's Background:

Heiwa Shuzo, founded in Wakayama Prefecture, has become known for blending innovation with respect for Japan’s brewing traditions. With their Kid series, they aim to make sake accessible, modern, and expressive of regional character. The ‘Aka – Red’ showcases their experimental spirit, transforming ancient Akamai red rice into a contemporary expression that appeals to a broad spectrum of drinkers.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at 8–10°C, slightly warmed at 17–19°C, or enjoy at 38–40°C for a softer, more umami-driven profile. Best served in a white wine glass to highlight its aromatic and visual appeal. Ideal pairings include fruit and cheese plates, charcuterie, pâté, smoked fish or poultry, poke bowls, grilled duck breast, venison, mature or blue-veined cheeses, and seasonal ripe fruits. For dessert, it shines alongside dark chocolate.

Vividly colored, richly textured, and crafted with rare red rice, this sake is more than just a beverage, it is an experience. Whether served chilled like a refreshing rosé or gently warmed to showcase its depth, it delivers layers of fruit, umami, and elegance that make it unforgettable
