Sensory Description:

The wine shows a light ruby color and an aromatic profile driven by wild strawberry, red cherry, and subtle dried fruit tones. Herbal nuances and a distinct saline character add complexity, reflecting its high-altitude origins. On the palate, it is balanced and juicy, with fine, integrated tannins and a fresh acidity that lifts the fruit. The texture is supple and expressive, combining elegance with depth, while the finish is persistent, marked by red fruit, gentle spice, and a lightly savory edge.

Winemaker’s Background:

Founded in 1966 by brothers Manolis and Sotiris Lyrarakis, the estate has become a benchmark for the revival of indigenous grape varieties. Now led by the second generation, the winery continues to focus on rescuing rare Cretan grapes and expressing them through sustainable and organic practices. Their commitment extends beyond viticulture, embracing regenerative farming and continuous adaptation to climate challenges, ensuring both environmental stewardship and distinctive wine character.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 14 to 16°C in a Burgundy or universal red wine glass to enhance its aromatic lift and texture. Ideal with Mediterranean dishes such as moussaka, pasta with red sauces, roasted vegetables, and tuna dishes, it also pairs well with pizza and herb-driven cuisine.
