Sensory Description:

Refreshing aromas of ocean spray, citrus blossoms, and lemongrass introduce an intensely aromatic white wine. The palate delivers bright lemon, lime zest, nectarine, and Meyer lemon, complemented by subtle notes of white flowers, marzipan, and salted almonds. Soaring acidity creates a lively, mouthwatering texture, while oyster-shell minerality and a distinctly savory, saline character provide depth. The finish is exceptionally fresh and persistent, with lingering citrus oil, pomelo, and a delicate sea-salt impression.

Producer’s Background:

Founded in Napa Valley in 2009 by winemaker Dan Petroski, Massican celebrates the distinctive white wines of southern Italy. Its name honors Monte Massico, the hills north of Naples associated with Petroski's family heritage. Gemina takes its name from Aminea Gemina, an ancient grape of Greek origin cultivated in southern Italy during Roman times and now associated with modern Greco. By combining Italian varieties grown in California, Petroski connects this historical legacy with a contemporary approach emphasizing freshness, acidity, and food-friendly elegance. Massican joined Gallo in 2023, with Petroski continuing to guide its winemaking.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 46–52°F (8–11°C) in a medium-sized white wine glass. Gemina's bright acidity and savory salinity make it an excellent companion to oysters, grilled seafood, shrimp scampi, and lemon-roasted chicken. For a particularly fitting southern Italian pairing, serve alongside eggplant Parmesan, where the wine's concentrated citrus character provides a refreshing contrast to rich tomato sauce, cheese, and olive oil. Enjoy young to appreciate its exceptional freshness and aromatic energy.
