The palate is lively and savory, revealing blackberry, black plum, blackcurrant, and bramble fruit alongside notes of black olive, tobacco, and aromatic herbs. Fresh acidity lifts the dark fruit, while earthy spice and a subtle mineral character contribute depth. The finish is dry and persistent, balancing ripe fruit with an appealing peppery, herbal edge.

Producer’s Background:

Founded by Ben Parsons in 2021, The Ordinary Fellow represents a return to vineyard-focused winemaking for one of Colorado's most influential wine pioneers. Originally from England and educated in enology at the University of Adelaide, Parsons arrived in Palisade in 2001 before founding Denver's groundbreaking Infinite Monkey Theorem winery, where he helped popularize canned wine in America. His latest venture occupies Palisade's historic United Fruit Growers packing shed, transformed into a winery and welcoming tasting room. Working alongside experienced vineyard manager Juan Adan, Parsons emphasizes sustainable farming, small-lot production, and expressive wines that showcase Colorado's distinctive growing conditions. The winery's philosophy combines serious craftsmanship with an unpretentious appreciation for good wine and good company.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 60–65°F (16–18°C) in a Syrah or Bordeaux-style wine glass. The wine's savory spice and vibrant fruit make it an excellent partner for grilled lamb, smoked brisket, rosemary-roasted pork, or pepper-crusted steak. Its herbal character also complements mushroom dishes, wood-fired pizza, lasagna, and aged cheddar. Enjoy now for its freshness and expressive fruit, allowing a brief period of aeration to reveal additional savory complexity.
