Dark berry fruit, cracked pepper, and earthy spice define the 2023 Vinos del Viento Tintorera, a vibrant Spanish red that combines Mediterranean generosity with Northern Rhône-inspired savoury complexity. Crafted by Michael Cooper from old, dry-farmed bush vines, the wine highlights Garnacha Tintorera alongside complementary Mediterranean varieties, delivering remarkable depth, freshness, and balance while showcasing the character of Spain's historic vineyards.

Deep ruby with purple highlights, the wine opens with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, cracked black pepper, and wild herbs. Garnacha Tintorera contributes rich colour and dark fruit intensity, while Syrah adds savoury spice and earthy depth. Graciano provides aromatic lift and freshness, with Garnacha softening the blend through vibrant red berry fruit and supple texture. The palate is medium to full-bodied with fine tannins, lively acidity, and a long finish marked by dark berries, spice, and subtle mineral notes.

Winemaker’s Background:

Founded by California-born winemaker Michael Cooper, Vinos del Viento celebrates the indigenous grape varieties and historic vineyards of Aragón and beyond. After moving to Spain and establishing both his family and winery, Michael developed a philosophy centred on preserving old vines, expressing individual terroirs, and combining traditional viticulture with thoughtful innovation. Working with dry-farmed, high-elevation vineyards and sustainable farming practices, he crafts wines that capture freshness, authenticity, and the unique character of Spain's diverse wine regions.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16 to 18°C in a Bordeaux glass. Pair with grilled lamb, roast pork, barbecued beef, venison, mushroom dishes, aged Manchego, hearty stews, or charcuterie.
