The skull on the label makes the intention clear: 2024 Reichsrat von Buhl Bone Dry Knochentrocken Riesling Trocken puts dryness at the heart of its identity. This Pfalz Riesling combines ripe stone-fruit aromas with a sharply defined citrus character, supported by stainless-steel fermentation and maturation on the lees. At 12% alcohol, it delivers freshness and fruit without heaviness, expressing the estate’s preference for precise, decisively dry wines.

Sensory Description:

Pale yellow with delicate golden highlights, the wine opens with expressive yellow stone fruit, citrus zest and white peach, accompanied by green apple and a light floral lift. Lime takes the lead on the palate, with a subtle lemongrass note adding definition. Precise, integrated acidity keeps the fruit juicy and the texture sleek, while the finish is brisk, clean and emphatically dry.

Awards & Accolades:

  • Score: Wine Enthusiast 89 Points, April 2026

Winemaker's Background:

Founded in 1849 by Franz Peter Buhl, Reichsrat von Buhl is a historic estate in Deidesheim with vineyard holdings around Deidesheim and Forst. A member of the VDP and a certified organic winegrower, it has built its identity around Riesling, distinctive vineyard sites and a commitment to dry wine. Cellar master and technical director Simone Frigerio emphasizes gentle processing and clear expressions of grape and vineyard, translating that philosophy into both the estate’s celebrated site wines and the accessible Bone Dry collection.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 10 to 12°C (50 to 54°F) in a medium-sized white wine or Riesling glass. Enjoy as a fresh aperitif or pair with grilled white fish, seafood, light chicken dishes and crisp salads. Roasted root vegetables, squash with fresh herbs, and gently seasoned Asian dishes also suit its citrus character. Ready to drink now, it is particularly appealing while its bright fruit and lively acidity remain prominent.
