Focused citrus and white peach lead into floral and herbal nuances, with the red-soil parcel contributing a darker, more earthy mineral register than the pale limestone character associated with much of Kirchspiel. The palate combines Riesling’s incisive acidity with a restrained touch of residual sweetness, creating a feinherb balance that feels energetic rather than overtly sweet. Lime and orchard fruit remain taut through the mid-palate, while stony, savory notes add depth and persistence. Winemaker's Background:

Weingut Keller traces its family winegrowing history in Rheinhessen to 1789, when Johann Leonhard Keller arrived from Switzerland and established the family in Dalsheim. Julia and Klaus-Peter Keller now own the estate, with Klaus-Peter and their son Felix serving as cellar masters. The family farms approximately 21 hectares, with Riesling accounting for about 70% of the vineyard area and holdings extending across important sites including Hubacker, Kirchspiel, Morstein, Brunnenhäuschen, Frauenberg, Pettenthal, and Hipping. Klaus-Peter and Julia assumed day-to-day direction of the estate in 2001, building on generations of family work while sharpening the focus on site-specific Riesling. RR occupies an unusual place within that philosophy: traditionally originating from a small red-soil section of Kirchspiel, it is allowed to retain residual sweetness when the natural fermentation finds its balance before complete dryness, preserving an individual expression rather than forcing the wine into the profile of a dry Grosses Gewächs.
