Sensory Description:

Sági Narancs opens with aromas of allspice, nutmeg, and dried tropical fruit, evoking warmth and texture even before the first sip. The palate is layered and expressive,  notes of tangerine peel, apricot, and citrus zest unfold over a saline backbone, shaped by Somló’s volcanic soils. Medium-bodied and tactile, it carries gentle tannins and a long, mineral finish that lingers with spice and energy.

Winemaker's Background:

László “Laci” Jász founded his small winery, A Nagy Bajuszú Jász Laci Pincéje, in 2013 on Somló hill, an extinct volcano in western Hungary. Inspired by ancient Kartulian (Georgian) methods, he focuses on natural, skin-contact winemaking with minimal intervention. Fermentations are spontaneous, sulfur additions are minimal, and time is treated as an ally rather than a tool. Laci’s wines are known for their raw honesty, expressive, untamed, and always thought-provoking, embodying both the spirit of Somló’s volcanic terroir and the personality of their maker.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly cool at 12–14°C in a white Burgundy or universal stem to showcase its aromatics and texture. A natural pairing for grilled vegetables, roast poultry, or spiced pork, it also complements Middle Eastern mezze, aged cheeses, and wood-fired seafood. Its dry, citrus-driven profile makes it as welcome at a rooftop dinner as it is beside a rustic countryside meal.

The 2021 A Nagy Bajuszú Jász Laci Sági Narancs is a celebration of volcanic soil, ancient technique, and unrestrained creativity, an orange wine that bridges past and present with character, vitality, and soul.
