Sensory Description:

Deep garnet red in color, the wine opens with a precise and articulate bouquet of red fruit layered with spice and lifted citrus tones. On the palate, balance defines the experience: tannins are present yet measured, allowing elegance to take the lead. Flavors unfold with clarity and restraint, finishing on a soft, spicy note accented by a subtle mentholated freshness that lingers with grace.

Winemaker's Background:

Rooted in the Roero hills since 1670, the Negro family represents one of Piedmont’s enduring winemaking lineages. Today, Angelo Negro continues this legacy alongside oenologist Gianfranco Cordero, overseeing 65 hectares dedicated to expressing the region’s noble native grape varieties. With deep respect for tradition and terroir, the estate focuses on precision, identity, and continuity, safeguarding generations of knowledge while allowing each vineyard site, such as Basarin, to speak distinctly through the glass.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for about one hour to allow the wine to fully open. This Barbaresco pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, roasted and braised meats, game, pork, and matured cheeses, making it especially well-suited to structured, savory cuisine that complements Nebbiolo’s elegance and depth.

Refined yet expressive, 2021 Angelo Negro Basarin offers a compelling interpretation of Barbaresco, one that honors tradition while delivering clarity, balance, and a quietly persistent finish.
