Dark red fruit, forest floor, and subtle cocoa notes open with a supple, medium-bodied profile. 2024 Gaupasa Garnacha reflects the biodynamic farming and restrained cellar approach of Bodegas Navarrsotillo, where organically grown Garnacha from Navarra’s Ribera Alta is fermented with native yeasts and aged entirely in stainless steel. Its freshness, soft tannin structure, and earthy detail speak to a family estate focused on transparent vineyard expression and minimal intervention winemaking.

Sensory Description:

The nose opens with blackberry, black cherry, and wild raspberry layered with loam and forest floor. The palate carries dark fruit and cocoa tones through a supple texture framed by soft to medium tannins and balanced acidity. Earthy undertones add depth without heaviness, while the finish remains fresh, savory, and gently spiced.

Producer’s Background:

Bodegas Navarrsotillo was founded by brothers Andrés and Ramón Serrano Arriezu, whose family has long been connected to farming and viticulture in Rioja and Navarra. The estate became an early advocate for organic viticulture in the region and today farms its vineyards under certified biodynamic and organic principles. Andrés focuses on vineyard management and soil health, while Ramón oversees cellar production with an emphasis on minimal intervention, native yeast fermentation, and wines that preserve varietal clarity and regional character.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 17 to 18 degrees Celsius in a medium-sized red wine glass to highlight the wine’s dark fruit, earthy complexity, and supple texture. Pair with roasted pork, grilled poultry, mushroom dishes, tuna, salmon, or rustic lentil and vegetable preparations.
