Gen 5 'Old Vine' Zinfandel, Lodi, California

Expert's Choice Somm Says

Blackberry, blueberry, and baking spice open with a generous, fruit-driven profile in the 2024 GEN5 “Old Vine” Zinfandel, shaped by a blend of deeply rooted heritage vines and younger estate plantings. Produced by the Lange family, now in its fifth generation of farming, the wine reflects a balance between concentration and freshness drawn from distinct vineyard blocks. It captures a house style grounded in sustainable farming, thoughtful blending, and consistency across vintages.

The wine opens with ripe black and blue fruits, including blackberry, blueberry, and plum, layered with notes of licorice and warm spice. Subtle oak influence adds hints of vanilla and spice, while balanced acidity keeps the wine lifted through a smooth, lingering finish.

Today, the estate is recognized for its commitment to certified sustainable viticulture and a vineyard-focused approach that emphasizes long-term stewardship and multi-generational continuity.
