Alvear Cream Sherry, Montilla-Moriles, Spain

Alvear Cream Sherry, Montilla-Moriles, Spain

From one of Spain’s oldest and most storied bodegas, Alvear Cream Sherry is a refined expression of Montilla-Moriles tradition, crafted from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes grown in the sun-drenched hills of southern Córdoba. Blending the savory depth of Oloroso with the natural sweetness of Pedro Ximénez, this artisanal Cream Sherry strikes a harmonious balance between richness and drinkability.

Winemaker's Background:

Founded in 1729, Bodegas Alvear is one of the oldest continuously operating wine estates in Spain. Based in the Montilla-Moriles DO, Alvear is synonymous with Pedro Ximénez, using this singular grape to craft wines that rival the great Sherries of Jerez. Their production methods remain deeply traditional, combining sustainable viticulture with solera aging in historic cellars. Unlike more commercial styles, Alvear's Cream Sherry is sweetened with natural PX sweet wine, yielding a more elegant and artisanal result.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly chilled at 10–12°C (50–54°F). Ideal as an aperitif with roasted nuts and blue cheeses, or as a dessert pairing with almond tart, fig cake, or dark chocolate.

Rich yet accessible, Alvear Cream Sherry offers a soulful and authentic taste of southern Spain’s heritage—beautifully aged and lovingly made.

Port & Sherry

Port and Sherry, two fortified wines from the Iberian Peninsula, stand as enduring symbols of richness, complexity, and cultural tradition.

Though both are crafted through the fortification of wine with grape spirit, their divergent origins, styles, and aging methods yield profoundly different drinking experiences.

Port, hailing from Portugal’s Douro Valley, is opulent and fruit-driven, often enjoyed as a luscious after-dinner pour.

Sherry, produced in Spain’s Jerez region, offers a remarkable spectrum—from bone-dry and savory to decadently sweet—embodying both rustic charm and refined elegance.

Together, they represent the fortified category at its most expressive and storied.
