2024 Fattoria La Màgia Rosso di Montalcino is a vibrant, finely structured expression of Sangiovese grown high on the central to southeastern side of Montalcino. Ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry lead into pomegranate, floral notes and touches of orange peel, herbs and spice. The wine combines juicy fruit with lively acidity and fine tannins, while nine months of maturation across tonneaux, large barrels and amphora adds texture without sacrificing freshness. Medium-bodied, energetic and precise, it offers an immediately approachable expression of La Màgia's high-altitude Sangiovese.

Sensory Description:

Bright and finely etched, with ripe red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry joined by pomegranate, rose and violet tones, orange peel and a subtle herbal and peppery lift. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth and juicy, driven by fresh acidity and supported by fine, gently grippy tannins. Savory and mineral nuances define the vivid red fruit, while restrained maturation preserves the clarity and energy of the Sangiovese. The finish is persistent, fresh, and composed.

Winemaker's Background:

The Schwarz family acquired La Màgia in 1979, establishing itself on high-elevation vineyards overlooking the Sant'Antimo valley. Fabian Schwarz took over from his father Harald in 2011 and today directs the estate's viticulture and winemaking. Trained at the Istituto Agrario di San Michele all'Adige, Fabian has continued the family's emphasis on site expression and restrained cellar work. La Màgia has been certified organic since 2012, building on farming practices established well before certification.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 16-18°C. Its bright acidity, juicy red fruit and fine tannins make it particularly versatile with Tuscan salumi, grilled or roasted meats, ragù, mushroom dishes and aged cheeses. It is especially well suited to bistecca alla Fiorentina, while its freshness also allows it to accompany roast poultry and other savory dishes without excessive weight.
