Sensory Description:

The wine presents a deep, bluish-red color and an expressive aromatic profile of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and raspberry, intertwined with notes of fresh herbs and violet. On the palate, it is lively and textured, with a balance between fruit purity and earthy complexity. The extended skin contact in the amphora contributes gentle tannins and a slightly rustic edge, while maintaining freshness and vibrancy. The fruit remains bright and nuanced, supported by a natural acidity and subtle savory tones. The finish is persistent and energetic, with lingering red and dark fruit, herbal notes, and a lightly grippy texture.

Winemaker’s Background:

XXVI Talha was founded by a group of friends from Vila Alva, inspired by the village’s long-standing tradition of talha winemaking dating back to Roman times. Reviving an old cellar equipped with 26 clay amphorae, they have committed to preserving and reinterpreting this historic method. Their approach emphasizes authenticity, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for local heritage.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 15 to 17°C in a universal or Burgundy glass to highlight its aromatic complexity and texture. Ideal with roasted vegetables, pork, lamb, and herb-driven dishes, it also pairs well with rustic Mediterranean cuisine. Allow the wine to breathe briefly to fully express its character.
