Cantina-Kellerei Bozen 'Mock' Sauvignon Blanc Alto Adige, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Somm Says

Perched high above Bolzano on steep porphyry slopes, the Mock vineyard gives rise to a Sauvignon Blanc of striking purity and altitude-driven intensity, one that could only come from this dramatic corner of Alto Adige. In the 2024 vintage, Cantina-Kellerei Bozen channels the cool mountain nights, rugged terrain, and long ripening season into a wine that feels both powerfully expressive and effortlessly graceful.

Sensory Description:

Pale straw yellow with vivid green reflections, the 2024 Mock opens with a vivid aromatic profile layered in nettle, tomato leaf, acacia blossom, elderflower, and bright citrus tones. Notes of peach, pink grapefruit, and mint add juicy depth, while flint and mineral tension build with aeration. The palate is taut yet generous, crisp acidity driving persistent flavor, a sleek structure, and a long finish where fruit, herb, and stony detail converge in harmony.

Winemaker's Background:

Cantina-Kellerei Bozen stands as one of Alto Adige’s most respected cooperatives, uniting generations of growers across the region’s steepest slopes. The Mockhof site, legendary for its altitude and extreme diurnal shifts, provides ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, and cellar master Stephan Filippi vinifies this single-vineyard bottling with precision. Through gentle handling, temperature control, and exclusive stainless-steel maturation, he preserves the aromatic clarity and energy that define Mock year after year.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled to highlight its aromatic lift and mouthwatering minerality. This Sauvignon Blanc pairs seamlessly with grilled or fried fish, shellfish, white poultry, Mediterranean salads, risotto, asparagus dishes, and vegetable-driven cuisine. Its freshness also makes it an exceptional companion for antipasti or a standout apéritif on its own.
