Domaine du Pelican Arbois Maceration Pelliculaire Savagnin, Jura, France

Domaine du Pelican Arbois Maceration Pelliculaire Savagnin, Jura, France

From the limestone-rich hills of Arbois, where cool alpine breezes meet centuries of winemaking tradition, Domaine du Pélican crafts the Arbois Macération Pelliculaire Savagnin, a wine of texture, energy, and rare precision. Sensory Description

The Macération Pelliculaire Savagnin opens with lifted aromas of quince, orange blossom, chamomile, and subtle spice, evolving into notes of almond, preserved lemon, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is textured yet crystalline flavors of pear skin, bergamot, and dried herbs unfold over a backbone of vibrant acidity and stony minerality. The gentle maceration imparts a delicate tannic frame and golden hue, leading to a long, savory finish that hums with saline tension and quiet power.

Winemaker’s Background

Domaine du Pélican was founded by Guillaume d’Angerville of Burgundy’s famed Domaine Marquis d’Angerville, who recognized in Jura the same limestone-driven vitality that defines great terroir. Established in 2012 in Montigny-lès-Arsures, the estate combines Burgundian precision with Jura authenticity, focusing on organic and biodynamic viticulture. The wines of Domaine du Pélican, named after Arbois’ emblematic bird, express elegance, energy, and a deep sense of place, bridging two of France’s most storied regions through craftsmanship and vision.

Serving Suggestions

Serve lightly chilled at 10–12°C (50–54°F) in a Burgundy or universal white wine glass. This wine pairs beautifully with dishes like duck breast, risotto with salmon or mushrooms, or rich poultry with cream and herbs. It also complements aged Comté, smoked trout, or savory vegetable tarts.

Distinctive, complex, and profoundly mineral, Domaine du Pélican Arbois Macération Pelliculaire Savagnin is a wine of both intellect and emotion, a radiant reflection of Jura’s ancient soils and the artistry of one of France’s great modern estates.
