Effortlessly elegant and quietly powerful, the 2012 Henriot Brut Millésime opens with the kind of poise only possible in a great vintage. From the first pour, it evokes a sense of chalky stillness—crushed oyster shell, white blossom, and citrus oil lifting from the glass like a breeze through a limestone vineyard. There's grace here, but also quiet tension, the kind that holds your attention long after the last sip.

Sensory Description:

This vintage cuvée opens with a finely articulated nose of orange blossom, lemon curd, and orchard pear, underpinned by hints of toasted hazelnut and brioche. Chalky minerality frames the aromatics, offering a crystalline purity that speaks directly to its Grand Cru origins. On the palate, the mousse is delicate and persistent, with acidity that is both bright and deeply integrated. Notes of citrus peel, baked apple, raw almond, and meringue unfold with remarkable balance, while a saline core and flinty depth carry through the long, graceful finish.

Now more than a decade on from harvest, the 2012 Henriot Brut Millésime is holding beautifully. The structure remains firm, the fruit vibrant, and the lees-derived complexity fully developed. This is a Champagne in its prime—mature yet energetic, with the potential for continued evolution over the next five to seven years.

Producer’s Background:

Founded in 1808 and still family-owned, Maison Henriot is revered for its focus on Chardonnay-driven elegance and its commitment to long lees aging. Sourcing predominantly from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, Henriot crafts wines with finesse, depth, and a strong sense of place. For the house, vintage Champagne is a statement of philosophy as much as it is a product of nature—each release intended as a time capsule of the year's most expressive fruit.

The 2012 vintage was hailed as one of the best in Champagne’s recent history. A cool spring and early summer gave way to a warm, dry August and early September, producing fruit of rare concentration and balance. In the hands of a producer like Henriot, this vintage became a vehicle for both clarity and complexity—qualities on full display in this release.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well-chilled, between 46–50 °F (9–12 °C). This wine offers exceptional range at the table: pair with butter-poached lobster, seared scallops, or oysters for a classically luxurious experience. It also shines alongside roasted chicken with tarragon, truffle risotto, or a wedge of aged Comté. Refined enough for aperitif service, but layered enough to carry through a full course.
