Fresh apple, citrus, and white flowers open into gentle toast, gingerbread spice, and a finely mineral finish. Bertrand-Delespierre 'Enfant de la Montagne' Premier Cru Brut brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier from the family's Premier Cru vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, with reserve wines adding breadth and continuity to the blend. Meaning "Child of the Mountain," Enfant de la Montagne captures Adrien and Clémence Bertrand-Delespierre's increasingly precise approach to their family's vineyards, balancing generous fruit with low dosage, freshness, and a clear expression of place.

Sensory Description:

Bright apple and lemony citrus lead the nose, accompanied by white flowers and a light toasted character. The palate is fresh and finely structured, with orchard fruit developing toward custard apple and subtle gingerbread spice while the low dosage preserves tension and clarity. Mineral freshness runs beneath the fruit, carrying the wine into a persistent, gently spicy finish that balances generosity with precision.

Winemaker's Background:

Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 in Chamery by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand, bringing together two Champagne winegrowing families whose names became that of the domaine. Their children Adrien and Clémence Bertrand-Delespierre now lead the approximately 10-hectare family estate, working Premier Cru vineyards in Chamery, Écueil, Villedommange, and Montbré and overseeing the wines from the vineyard through the cellar. The new generation has placed increasing emphasis on sustainable vineyard work, lower dosage, spontaneous fermentation, and more detailed expressions of individual sites while preserving the family's grower-producer identity. Enfant de la Montagne, whose name means "Child of the Mountain," serves as a broad expression of their Montagne de Reims holdings, blending fruit from the family's Premier Cru villages and multiple harvests into a Champagne centered on freshness, balance, and the character of their home landscape.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at approximately 9 to 11 degrees Celsius in a tulip-shaped Champagne glass or medium-sized white wine glass. Its combination of orchard fruit, citrus, mineral freshness, and subtle toast makes it well suited to smoked salmon, sashimi, ceviche, shellfish, fried calamari, dishes with delicate white wine sauces, or lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also works naturally as an aperitif, where the low dosage and bright structure keep the palate fresh.
