Produced in 2014 when Semei was just 19 years old, the batch was rested patiently in glass for six years before its 2020 release as Maguey Melate’s Mezcalero of the Month. Maguey Melate itself was founded on a commitment to preserving artisanal agave traditions, rejecting shortcuts in favor of sustainability, fairness, and education. Through small-batch releases and direct relationships with producers, the project champions the philosophy of keeping mezcal artisanal.
