From the rolling hills of La Morra in the heart of Barolo comes the 2021 Mauro Molino Barolo DOCG, a wine that beautifully captures the elegance, power, and longevity for which Nebbiolo is revered. Crafted from hand-harvested fruit grown in the limestone and clay-rich soils of Piedmont and matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, this Barolo balances aromatic finesse with impressive depth, offering a classic expression of one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

Sensory Description:

Dense ruby red with delicate garnet reflections at the rim, this Barolo opens with an intensely aromatic bouquet of sour cherry, black cherry, violet, lilac, lavender, almond, and juniper berry. The palate is rich and layered, combining a creamy texture with remarkable precision and freshness. Concentrated flavors of ripe Morello cherry, dark berries, floral nuances, and subtle spice unfold across the tongue, supported by refined tannins and vibrant acidity. Mineral notes derived from the limestone-rich soils add complexity and elegance, leading to an exceptionally long finish marked by lingering cherry fruit, floral accents, and savory earth tones.

Awards & Accolades:

  • 92 Points – James Suckling
  • 16 Points – Jancis Robinson

Winemaker's Background:

Mauro Molino is one of the respected family estates of La Morra, dedicated to producing wines that express the unique character of Barolo’s celebrated terroirs. The winery combines traditional Piedmontese winemaking techniques with modern precision, focusing on careful vineyard management, hand harvesting, and thoughtful aging programs. Their commitment to quality and site expression has earned the estate a reputation for crafting elegant, approachable Barolos that retain the structure and aging potential expected of this iconic appellation.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 15–18°C (59–64°F) in a large Bordeaux or Nebbiolo glass to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity. This wine pairs beautifully with braised meats, roasted lamb, wild game, truffle dishes, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses, pumpkin casserole, leek tortilla, and even richly prepared cod with mustard vegetables. While enjoyable today with decanting, it will continue to develop additional nuance and complexity through at least 2036.
