Ripe plum and dark berry lead, joined by cherry and a hint of spice. The palate is generous and rounded, with ripe, supple tannins and a fresh lift that keeps the fruit from feeling heavy. Stainless-steel aging lets the Merlot character stay at the center, carrying through to a smooth, fruit-forward finish.

Producer’s Background:

Château Couronneau is a family estate in Ligueux, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The Piat family began restoring the property and vineyard in the 1990s, then moved to organic farming in 1997 and began biodynamic practices in 2005. The estate sits at about 185 meters above sea level, where compact, iron-rich clay soils shape its vineyard work. Grégoire Piat is identified by the winery as its vigneron and proprietor.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly cool, around 59–64°F, in a standard red wine glass; no decanting is needed. Its ripe fruit and soft structure pair well with roast chicken, grilled sausages, burgers, charcuterie, or semi-firm cheeses.
