2025 Amevive 'Ravie' GSM, Santa Barbara County, California takes its name from ravie, the feminine form of the French word for “delighted.” Winemaker Alice Anderson connects the wine to the good-natured embarrassment of speaking imperfect French with friends in the south of France. Its unusual-for-the-region blend brings together Grenache and Mourvèdre from Alisos Canyon and Los Olivos District with Syrah from Ibarra-Young Vineyard, making this a playful, distinctly Santa Barbara take on GSM.

Sensory Description:

Fresh strawberry and lively red-fruit notes lead, with a vivid fruit-punch character and a lift of pepper. Floral tones add dimension, while the palate stays bright and supple rather than heavy. Its texture is silky with a delicate, tactile grip, like the slight tension of tying a knot in a cherry stem. Crunchy red fruit and pepper carry through a balanced, gently savory finish.

Awards & Accolades:

  • Score: Vinous Media, 91–93 Points

Producer’s Background:

Âmevive is the wine project of Alice Anderson, who farms and makes wine with her partner, Topher De Felice. The project began with the 2019 vintage and centers on farming as an interconnected vineyard ecosystem. The 2025 Ravie label reflects that interest in local nature: Anderson’s mother, Eileen, painted the Anna’s hummingbird on the front, and Anderson painted native flowers found in the Santa Ynez watershed for the back.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve lightly chilled, around 13 to 15°C, in a medium-bowled red wine glass to highlight the wine’s fresh fruit and peppery lift. Pair with roast chicken, grilled lamb, charcuterie, or a mushroom and herb tart. Enjoy now for its lively red-fruit character.
