Crafted by Josef and Julia from a blend of Zweigelt and Merlot, this wine spends more than three years aging in large old barrels before bottling, creating a uniquely layered expression that balances juicy fruit, savory complexity, and effortless drinkability. It is a wine that feels both playful and serious, equally at home at a casual gathering or a holiday feast.

Crunchy, juicy, and immensely approachable, this wine bursts with aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, plum, and wild raspberry alongside notes of fresh herbs, earth, and subtle spice. The palate is lively and energetic, delivering vibrant red and black fruit flavors framed by refreshing acidity and gentle earthy undertones. Extended aging contributes additional texture and complexity, while maintaining the wine’s signature freshness. The finish is bright, savory, and lightly rustic, with lingering notes of herbs and mineral-driven lift.

Winemaker’s Background:

Nibiru Wines was founded by Josef and Julia, who named the project after the mythical Planet X of ancient Sumerian lore, a symbol of their desire to challenge convention and chart a different path for Kamptal winemaking. Working in some of the northernmost vineyards of the region, they farm organically and biodynamically with a philosophy centered on minimal intervention, healthy soils, and patient élevage. Their wines reflect the cool-climate precision and mineral character of Kamptal while embracing a progressive, natural approach that prioritizes authenticity over conformity.
