Fragrant aromas of ripe strawberry, red cherry, cranberry, and delicate rose petals are joined by nuanced hints of cherrywood, vanilla, ambered incense, black tea, and gentle earth. The palate is vibrant and fluid, layering cranberry, juicy cherry, black currant, plum, and subtle orange peel over graceful acidity and soft, supple tannins. Savoury touches of sage and woodland spice add complexity, leading to a poised, persistent finish that is both refined and highly approachable.

Winemaker's Background:

Panther Ridge was founded by Suzanne Farver on a rugged ridge approximately 1,000 feet above the Sonoma Valley floor. In 2016, an undulating field of hay and thistle was transformed into a seven-acre vineyard planted with 10,000 Pinot Noir vines among cobbled soils, gravel, and massive exposed boulders. The property has been farmed without synthetic chemicals or pesticides from the beginning, receiving organic certification in 2019 and subsequently incorporating biodynamic principles. Working with winemaker Adrian Manspeaker of Joseph Jewell Wines, Panther Ridge produces small quantities of estate-focused Pinot Noir distinguished by vivid fruit, energetic structure, and the character of its elevated site.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 14-16°C in a Burgundy or generously proportioned Pinot Noir glass. No extended decanting is necessary, although 15 to 20 minutes of air will allow the floral, fruit, and subtle oak notes to open fully. Pair with roast chicken, duck breast with cherry sauce, grilled salmon, pork tenderloin, herb-roasted turkey, mushroom risotto, lentils, grilled aubergine, or wild mushroom pizza. Cheese pairings include Brie, Camembert, Gruyère, Comté, and young Gouda. Its lively cranberry and cherry character also suits dishes with pomegranate, warm spices, or earthy herbs, while restrained desserts such as a dark chocolate and cherry tart provide an elegant conclusion. A versatile choice for restaurant service, relaxed dinners, holiday gatherings, and polished by-the-glass enjoyment.
