Root Shoot Spirits grew from the Olander family’s agricultural operation and Root Shoot Malting, founded by fifth-generation farmer Todd Olander in 2016. Olander Farms traces its current family farming operation to 1926, and in 2022 the family permanently conserved 112 acres encompassing the historic homestead and malthouse farmland. Root Shoot controls the whiskey’s grain from cultivation through malting, then works with Vapor Distillery, home of Boulder Spirits, for distillation and bottling. Released during Olander Farms’ centennial year and Root Shoot Malting’s 10th anniversary, this six-year expression extends that vertically connected approach through a whiskey whose barley travels only about 30 miles from field to bottle.
