Fresh red berries, violets, and rose petals lift from the glass with vibrant floral intensity. 2021 Venta la Vega Adaras Aldea is an organically produced red that combines the deep colour and richness of Garnacha Tintorera with the freshness and structure of Syrah. Crafted in the high-altitude vineyards of Almansa using low-intervention winemaking, it offers a lively expression of one of southeastern Spain's most distinctive terroirs.

Sensory Description:

Bright strawberry red with purple highlights, the wine opens with aromas of rose petals, violets, ripe black cherry, and red berries. Notes of cinnamon, black pepper, bay leaf, liquorice, and cooling menthol add aromatic complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, balancing concentrated red and dark fruit with smooth tannins and fresh acidity. A subtle mineral thread carries through the long, dry finish, where floral notes and gentle spice linger gracefully.

Awards & Accolades:

  • Score: James Suckling 87 Points

Winemaker’s Background:

Located in the mountainous Almansa appellation of Castilla-La Mancha, Venta la Vega farms more than 850 hectares of organically certified vineyards across limestone and clay soils. Benefiting from significant altitude and dramatic day-to-night temperature variation, the estate produces wines of freshness and balance despite the region's warm climate. Guided by a philosophy of sustainable farming and minimal intervention, the winery focuses on expressing the character of indigenous and well-adapted Mediterranean grape varieties through vibrant, approachable wines that faithfully reflect their unique landscape.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 15 to 17 degrees Celsius in a Bordeaux glass to enhance the wine's expressive fruit and floral aromatics. Pair with grilled lamb, roast pork, barbecued meats, tomato-based pasta, vegetable tagine, aged cheeses, or enjoy slightly chilled alongside charcuterie on warm days.
