Perched between the limestone cliffs of Cap Canaille and the cobalt waters of the Mediterranean, the 2023 Clos Sainte Magdeleine Cassis Blanc captures the very essence of Provence’s sun-kissed coastline. Breezy and mineral, yet deeply elegant, this white blend radiates maritime freshness, a wine that seems to hold within it the sound of lapping waves and the scent of sea spray. Crafted by François and Jonathan Sack from organically farmed vines overlooking the fishing village of Cassis, it’s a timeless expression of place where salt air, sunlight, and limestone unite in perfect harmony.

Sensory Description:

The 2023 Cassis Blanc unfolds with aromas of peach, green melon, and wild herbs layered over subtle hints of pine and flint smoke. On the palate, it glides with silky texture and vibrant acidity, balanced by savory notes of chive, citrus zest, and crushed minerals. Medium-bodied yet full of energy, it finishes long and saline, echoing the sea breeze that shapes these vines.

Winemaker's Background:

Established in 1922, Clos Sainte Magdeleine has been in the Sack family for four generations. The estate’s striking Art Deco mansion sits directly above the Mediterranean, framed by the dramatic cliffs of Cap Canaille. François Sack and his son Jonathan oversee the domaine’s 20 hectares of vineyards, 14 of which are devoted to Cassis AOC production. As President of the AOC Cassis consortium, Jonathan Sack champions sustainable viticulture and organic farming, ensuring that each bottle of Clos Sainte Magdeleine embodies the spirit and tradition of this historic region.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well-chilled at 48–52 °F (9–11 °C). This vibrant Cassis Blanc is the ultimate partner for seafood, think grilled sea bream, red mullet, or fresh oysters. It also pairs beautifully with salads tossed in herb vinaigrettes, goat cheese tarts, and Mediterranean dishes with lemon, olive oil, and thyme. Enjoy now for its zesty freshness or cellar for up to 10 years to reveal layers of candied citrus and honeyed depth.

The 2023 Clos Sainte Magdeleine Cassis Blanc is a masterclass in coastal winemaking, graceful, mineral, and timeless, a true taste of Provence in every glass.
