Sicilian lemon, vanilla cream, and toasted granola open with vivid dessert-like richness. Drekker Brewing 'Slang du Jour a la Mode' Lemon Meringue Pie Sour Ale Beer layers tart citrus with pear, coconut cream, brown sugar, lactose, and vanilla to recreate the sweet, fluffy character of lemon meringue pie. Its playful intensity reflects Drekker’s approach to highly fruited sour ales and its broader philosophy of challenging expectations through bold flavour.

Sensory Description:

The aroma leads with freshly cut lemon, vanilla cream, and sweet pastry, followed by pear and toasted granola. The palate is thick and rounded, with sharp citrus acidity balancing brown sugar, coconut cream, and soft-serve sweetness. Lactose adds a smooth, fluffy texture, while granola contributes a baked crust-like note. Tart lemon returns through the finish, leaving lingering vanilla, toasted cereal, and creamy citrus character.

Brewer's Background:

Drekker Brewing Company was founded by Mark Bjornstad, Darin Montplaisir, Jesse Feigum, and Mason Montplaisir and opened in Fargo in 2014 after several years of homebrewing together. The brewery built its identity around creative, unconventional releases and a community-focused taproom experience. Its Slang du Jour series explores dessert-inspired sour ales through concentrated fruit, lactose, and bakery-style ingredients, combining playful branding with careful management of sweetness, acidity, and texture.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well chilled at 5 to 7 degrees Celsius in a stemmed sour glass or tulip. Gently roll the closed container before opening to redistribute settled fruit and adjunct ingredients, without shaking. Enjoy on its own as a dessert-style beer or pair with lemon tart, cheesecake, shortbread, fresh berries, or lightly salted snacks. Keep refrigerated and consume fresh.
