Some wines demand quiet contemplation, while others invite you to simply enjoy, and Haložan Orange falls firmly into the latter camp. The 2024 vintage takes Slovenia’s age-old skin-contact tradition and reimagines it as a bright, fruit-driven expression that is as easygoing as it is intriguing. Hand-harvested from steep Štajerska vineyards and crafted with care, it delivers the color, texture, and character of orange wine without ever losing its fresh, welcoming charm.

Sensory Description:
In the glass, Haložan Orange glows with an amber-orange hue. The nose is bright and enticing, offering aromas of stone fruit, white nectarine, dried herbs, exotic citrus peel, and a subtle mineral edge of graphite. On the palate, gentle tannins and lively acidity frame flavors of passion fruit, pear, tangerine, and wild herbs, finishing fresh and lightly savory. While true to the orange wine style, this bottling is refreshingly approachable, emphasizing fruit and drinkability alongside its rustic charm.
Winemaker's Background:
With roots dating back to 1239, Ptujska Klet is among the oldest wineries in Europe, housed in the historic cellars beneath the Roman-founded town of Ptuj. Above these ancient vaults sits a modern winemaking facility, where tradition meets technology to produce expressive wines that highlight Slovenia’s cool-climate terroir. Known for varieties like Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir, Ptujska Klet also produces the beloved Haložan range, a local favorite often enjoyed as a refreshing spritzer. The Haložan Orange pays homage to both the winery’s deep heritage and the ancient practice of fermenting white grapes on their skins.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve slightly chilled at 12–14 °C in a white wine or tulip-shaped glass. This versatile orange wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, spiced lamb, charcuterie, and hearty vegetable dishes such as ratatouille or lentil stew. It also complements aged cheeses and Middle Eastern fare, making it ideal for adventurous food pairings.
The 2024 Ptujska Klet Haložan Orange is a wine of tradition and accessibility, fresh, fruity, and crafted to showcase the best of Štajerska for both seasoned enthusiasts and those new to orange wines alike.
