Sensory Description:

The aroma leads with grapefruit peel, orange, pine, and resin, supported by a measured layer of pale malt sweetness. The palate is full and concentrated, carrying citrus and evergreen hop character across a substantial malt frame. Firm bitterness builds through the mid-palate, balancing the beer’s strength and weight before a bold, dry finish with lingering citrus pith and pine.

Brewer’s Background:

River North Brewery was founded by Matt and Jessica Hess in 2012 and was among the early breweries established in Denver’s River North Art District. Founder and owner Matt Hess built the brewery around a beer-first approach, initially emphasizing Belgian-inspired and high-gravity ales before developing a broader range that includes West Coast IPA, lager, stout, and an extensive barrel-aging program. Head Brewer Matt Malloy currently leads brewing work alongside Hess, continuing a house style defined by strong beer, experimentation, and carefully managed barrel releases.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius in a tulip, IPA glass, or stemmed beer glass to concentrate its citrus and pine aromatics while allowing the beer’s strength to open gradually. Pair with grilled burgers, spicy barbecue, smoked brisket, sharp cheddar, blue cheese, or richly seasoned dishes. Its 10% ABV calls for measured pours and relaxed serving.
