Hazy, aromatic, and intensely hop-driven, Tired Hands Brewing's 'HopHands' Pale Ale layers vivid citrus and stone fruit with dank greenery and a light resinous edge. Brewed with oats and loaded with Simcoe, Centennial, and Amarillo, this 5.5% American Pale Ale combines the aromatic intensity associated with an IPA with the easygoing structure of a pale ale. HopHands has been part of Tired Hands since its early days in Ardmore and became one of the brewery's defining beers, helping establish the hazy, juicy approach that would become increasingly influential in American craft brewing.

Sensory Description:

Expressively aromatic, with kiwi, nectarine, tangelo, and honeysuckle joined by dank hop character and a touch of light pine sap. The palate is juicy and fruit-forward, carrying citrus and stone fruit through a soft texture shaped in part by the use of oats. Simcoe, Centennial, and Amarillo provide layers of fruit, floral character, and resinous greenery, with enough hop structure to give the beer IPA-like intensity while retaining the drinkability of a pale ale. The finish is fresh, hoppy, and clean, with lingering citrus and pine.

Brewer's Background:

Tired Hands Brewing Company was founded by Jean Broillet IV, who opened the original Brew Café in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, in 2012 after working his way through the state's craft brewing scene. The brewery grew from Broillet's homebrewing roots and a fascination with both the hop-forward pale ales of the American West Coast and the dry farmhouse ales of France and Belgium. Tired Hands expanded with its Fermentaria production brewery and restaurant in 2015 while maintaining an emphasis on small-batch brewing, experimentation, and beer made by hand. HopHands emerged as one of the brewery's signature beers and an early expression of the hazy, intensely aromatic pale ale style, while Tired Hands later gained further recognition for experimental projects including its influential Milkshake IPA collaborations.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve fresh and chilled at approximately 7 to 9 degrees Celsius in a tulip, IPA, or nonic pint glass to emphasize its citrus, stone fruit, floral, and resinous hop aromatics. Pair with fried chicken, burgers, tacos, pizza, grilled sausages, spicy dishes, sharp cheddar, or herb-driven vegetable dishes. Its combination of juicy fruit, moderate alcohol, and fresh hop character also makes it particularly well-suited to casual drinking without food.
