White peach, pear skin, citrus zest, and a gentle almond note lead into Corte Mainente Bianco Secco Veronese IGT 2023, a dry Garganega shaped by old hillside vines and a cellar philosophy grounded in restraint. This bottling reflects a long family lineage at Corte Mainente, where the estate founded by Virgilio Mainente in 1939 remains in family hands and where traditional concrete fermentation continues to define the house style. With Ugo Mainente and the third generation now guiding the estate, the wine speaks to a legacy of continuity, independence, and patient craft.

Sensory Description:

Corte Mainente Bianco Secco Veronese IGT 2023 opens with notes of pear, honeydew, lemon zest, and green tea, then settles into a palate of orchard fruit, stone fruit, and subtle herbal lift. Garganega gives the wine its hallmark bitterness of almond on the finish, while the old vines and hillside fruit lend mineral tension and quiet depth. The overall impression is clean, savory, and finely textured, balancing freshness with a gentle breadth that feels true to the traditional white wines of the Veronese hills.

Winemaker’s Background:

Corte Mainente was established in 1939, when Virgilio Mainente purchased the family property that still anchors the estate today. What began as a mixed farm evolved into a dedicated wine estate in the 1950s, when the family committed fully to viticulture and cellar work. Ugo Mainente later expanded and refined production, and today the winery continues under the guidance of the next generation, with Davide Mainente leading the cellar and Marco Mainente overseeing vineyard work. The estate remains small in scale and deeply rooted in family stewardship, with a style that favors transparency, continuity, and traditional methods over embellishment.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled, around 46 to 50°F, in a white wine glass that allows its aromatics and mineral detail to open gradually. Its brisk acidity and almond-tinged finish make it especially well suited to crudo, grilled prawns, simply prepared white fish, spring vegetables, risotto with herbs, and young cheeses. It also works beautifully as an aperitif when a dry, quietly expressive white is called for.
